(Wed, 21 Aug 2024) Norwayâs Johan Sverdrup field, the top producing oil field in Europe, will reach its production plateau near 755 thousand barrels per day by the end of the year, and the 88-megawatt Hywind Tampen project, the worldâs largest floating offshore wind farm, entered operation in late 2022.
(Thu, 15 Aug 2024) The U.S. Renewable Diesel Fuel and Other Biofuels Plant Production Capacity Report contains data for production capacity organized by state and by region, as of January 1, 2024.
(Tue, 13 Aug 2024) Egypt is a significant and geographically important hydrocarbon producer. Egypt received a substantial boost to its natural gas production in the mid-2010s when major offshore fields, such as the Zohr field, were developed. Egypt operates the Suez Canal and the Suez-Mediterranean (SUMED) Pipeline; both of which are crucial midstream infrastructure for international energy markets. Egypt has also sought to position itself as the regional export hub for LNG. Egypt is the only country in the Eastern Mediterranean region with operational LNG export capacity.
(Thu, 25 Jul 2024) This report about office buildings describes results from an exploratory, web-only survey that was conducted to learn about changes to commercial buildings following the COVID-19 pandemic.
(Mon, 01 Jul 2024) The East China Sea is a semi-closed sea bordered by the Yellow Sea to the north, the South China Sea and Taiwan to the south, Japan's Ryukyu and Kyushu islands to the east, and the Chinese mainland to the west. It has a total area of approximately 290,000 square miles, consisting of mostly shallow waters; three-fourths of the sea is less than 500 feet deep. In the Okinawa Trough, the depths exceed 6,500 feet.
(Tue, 25 Jun 2024) Chokepoints are narrow channels along widely used global sea routes that are critical to global energy security. The seven chokepoints highlighted in this report and the Cape of Good Hope are part of major trade routes for global seaborne oil transportation. Disruptions to these routes could affect oil prices and add thousands of miles of transit in alternative routes.
(Mon, 10 Jun 2024) The United Kingdomâs Rosebank field is expected to contain 300 million barrels of recoverable oil with a peak flow of 70,000 barrels per day starting in 2027; this new field could slow the UKâs declining oil production. U.S. liquefied natural gas has become a major source of natural gas in the UK, while five new international interconnectors have led to a surge in the UKâs electrical trade.
(Thu, 30 May 2024) Canada is a major energy producer, consumer, and exporter with a diverse and dynamic energy sector. Historically, hydroelectric power dominated Canadaâs energy mix, but oil and natural gas production have grown. The majority of Canada's oil and natural gas output is in Alberta; in contrast, hydroelectric and renewable energy make up a larger share of energy output in Quebec and British Columbia.
(Wed, 29 May 2024) Guyana's petroleum production has grown rapidly, increasing from 15,000 barrels per day (b/d) in December 2019, when crude oil production in the country began, to 630,000 b/d in January 2024. Three additional projects are underway with the potential to reach a combined production capacity of 1.3 million b/d of crude oil by 2027.
