Coal Transportation Rates to the Electric Power Sector

(Wed, 21 Aug 2019) In 2008 EIA began collecting the commodity cost of all coal delivered to power plants with a combined nameplate capacity of 50 megawatts or greater on the Form EIA-923, “Power Plant Operations Report.” Since EIA already collected delivered cost for the same shipments, a proxy for transportation cost is be calculated by subtracting one from the other.

Hourly Electric Grid Monitor

(Wed, 21 Aug 2019) EIA launched a beta release of its new <em>Hourly Electric Grid Monitor</em>, a redesigned and enhanced version of the existing <em>U.S. Electric System Operating Data</em> website. The data come from Form EIA-930, <em>Hourly and Daily Balancing Authority Operations Report</em>, which collects hourly electricity demand, forecast demand, net generation, and interchange data from the electricity balancing authorities that operate the electric grid in the Lower 48 states.

OPEC Revenues Fact Sheet

(Tue, 20 Aug 2019) The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) estimates that members of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) earned almost $711 billion in net oil export revenue in 2018; however, EIA forecasts annual OPEC net oil export revenue will decline to $593 billion in 2019 and to $556 billion in 2020 as a result of decreasing production among a number of OPEC producers.

EIA’s new State Energy Portal includes New England energy data for state and regional comparisons

(Fri, 02 Aug 2019) EIA’s new <em>State Energy Portal</em> is a complementary tool for New England Dashboard users to access state-level information. The New England Dashboard focuses mostly on regional data. The new portal provides direct access to all state-level U.S. energy data with interactive, customizable views of more than 150 charts, tables, and maps. EIA integrated all data, analysis, maps, and rankings from the existing State Energy Profiles into the new portal.
