Why US natural gas prices hit multi-year lows this week
On Oct. 29, the NYMEX November natural gas futures contract settled at $2.033/MMBtu. Here are some factors contributing to it being $1.61 lower than in 2014.
Petrochemical implications of easing sanctions on Iran
The easing of sanctions on Iran could present a huge opportunity for the Iranian petrochemical sector, since the country sits atop ethane-rich conventional gas reserves.
Vehicle standards around the world aim to improve fuel economy and reduce emissions
(Fri, 30 Oct 2015) Nine countries and regions, which together account for 75% of global fuel consumption by light-duty vehicles, have adopted mandatory or voluntary standards for increasing fuel economy and reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The intent and structure of these emissions policies vary widely around the world. Because fuel economy and GHG emissions policies have large effects on fuel consumption, vehicle standards are one of the most important components of future demand for liquid fuels.
Monthly Crude Oil and Natural Gas Production
(Fri, 30 Oct 2015) EIA is providing estimates for crude oil production (including lease condensate) based on data from the EIA-914 survey. Survey-based monthly production estimates starting with January 2015 are provided for Arkansas, California, Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, West Virginia, Wyoming, and the Federal Gulf of Mexico. For Oklahoma and all remaining oil-producing states and areas not individually covered by the EIA-914, production estimates are based on the previous methodology (using lagged state data).
Monthly Biodiesel Production Report
(Fri, 30 Oct 2015) The U.S. Energy Information Administration released new data today showing national and regional monthly biodiesel production for August 2015. In addition to biodiesel production, data included producer sales, producer stocks, and feedstock inputs.
U.S. Movements of Crude Oil By Rail
(Fri, 30 Oct 2015) Monthly data on rail movements of crude oil have been updated for August 2015. Crude oil movements by rail have significantly increased over the past five years. The new data on crude-by-rail (CBR) movements are also fully integrated with EIA?s existing monthly petroleum supply statistics, which already include crude oil movements by pipeline, tanker, and barge.
Company Level Imports
(Fri, 30 Oct 2015) Imports data at the company level collected from the EIA-814 Monthly Imports Report.
Petroleum Supply Monthly
(Fri, 30 Oct 2015) Supply and disposition of crude oil and petroleum products on a national and regional level. The data series describe production, imports and exports, movements, and inventories.
Natural Gas Monthly
(Fri, 30 Oct 2015) ?In August, for the second consecutive month, dry natural gas production was the highest for any month since EIA began reporting dry natural gas production data. Dry natural gas production has increased year-over-year each month since March 2013; dry production has not decreased year-over-year for any month since February 2013. Preliminary dry natural gas production for August 2015 was 2,373 billion cubic feet (Bcf), or 76.5 Bcf/day. This level was a 4.97 Bcf/day (6.9%) increase from production of 71.6 Bcf/day in August 2014.
